Latest update: August 4, 2004
The rest of the team arrived the next morning. It had rained the whole night and some loud noises got us really scared.
The small and lovely rivulet mutated to a river with big rapids.
The pool yesterday. Crystal clear water and the small rivulet.
The water level rose more than 2m overnight. A lot of the equipment got washed away. Some stages were still in the pool.
The overflow from the cave pool yesterday.
The same place today. The team discussed what they could do.
A rope was put up over the overflow of the cave pool and a diver, secured with another rope was to recover as much equipment as possible out of the pool.
Some stages could be recovered, but the water level rose up more and more.
After two hours the water level was at its highest. It was impossible to recover more equipment.
The whole place around the pool was flooded. Impossible to work safely.
Gertjan, Jiles, Ralph and Hoffi helped Brus out of the rapids. It was too dangerous to recover more equipment...
The equipment that had not been taken away by the river was brought up with the cable car.
We couldn't do anything anymore. It was time to drive home. View of the flooded river.
