Third recovery weekend

Latest update: August 4, 2004

By Michael Brusdelins

Since the first recovery weekends were not a complete great success and some equipment was still missing, this weekend we came back with 14 team members. Ralph, his girlfriend Jasmin, Gertjan, Eddy, Ward, Victor, Silvia, Mara, Alessandro, Paolo, Sandro, Micha, Reinhard, Hervé and Brus. The conditions were perfect and the river had a low water level.

EKPP

Nice and warm weather. The small track to the Gourneyras. This is the easiest part on the way to the Gourneyras.

EKPP

The whole recovery team. 15 people who drove more than 1000 km to swim in a river and crawl between rocks. Very good team spirit!!!

EKPP

The team in the river. A lot of different environments make the search difficult. Deep water, rapids, thicket and low water passages bring the whole team into trouble.

EKPP

The team searching in shallow water and in the thicket on the riverbanks.

Micha (left) found a Gavin scooter in shallow water 2 km away from the cave. Ralph and Sandro (right) helped him.

EKPP

Diving equipment was not the only thing we found.

EKPP

The team repaired a damaged bridge in heavy current. The bridge was the connection from the street to a private house. The locals asked us for help.

EKPP

It takes the team an hour of hard work to get the parts from the bridge out of the heavy current.

EKPP

The rapids are both dangerous and funny. The problem was the search in the rapids.

EKPP

A rest in deep water. Reinhard, Alessandro and Micha (from left to right)

EKPP

The last few meters in the river. The team arrived in Madières. Three divers transported a flooded Gavin scooter more than 2 km in the river through rapids, deep water and 5 cm deep water.

The land support team waiting for the river team on the beautiful old bridge in Madières. The search and recovery was successful.
